The BETA Lab conducts research aimed at developing cutting-edge technologies based on building materials and addressing energy and environmental challenges. By utilizing innovative construction materials, we strive to enhance building performance, contribute to carbon reduction, and promote a sustainable built environment. Our vision is to improve building performance through the innovative application of advanced materials, thereby enhancing energy efficiency, reducing greenhouse gas emissions, and strengthening fire safety performance in buildings. We are dedicated to pioneering research that leads toward a sustainable and eco-friendly future in architecture.
We are developing technologies that maximize the thermal storage and insulation performance of buildings by utilizing advanced materials such as phase-change materials and carbon nanomaterials. In addition, we explore methods to maintain a comfortable indoor environment while minimizing energy consumption by integrating passive building technologies.
We develop functional materials that reduce environmental impact and investigate technologies that effectively mitigate pollutants using porous materials. Through these efforts, buildings are designed not only to provide space but also to contribute to solving environmental challenges.
We apply flame-retardant materials to evaluate and improve buildings’ fire safety performance, and research ways to enhance safety during fire events. Our goal is to establish foundational technologies that ensure a safe and reliable built environment.
